Kuang-Chi is a strategically innovative enterprise and a provider of next-generation metamaterial technology and artificial intelligence coverage technology. It owns two listed companies: Kuang-Chi Technologies (SZ002625) and Kuang-Chi Science (HK00439).
Founded in 2010, Kuang-Chi was established by five PhDs who returned to China from Duke University in the United States and Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Headquartered in Shenzhen, China, its innovation institutions span 21 countries and regions across 5 continents.
Kuang-Chi possesses a series of original innovation and industrialization platforms, including a cluster of new-type R&D institutions centered on the Shenzhen Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Metamaterial Electromagnetic Modulation Technology and multiple provincial and municipal key laboratories, and enterprise postdoctoral research workstations and other research institutions. In addition, Kuang-Chi is the secretariat unit of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Electromagnetic Metamaterial Technology and Products, and the initiator of the Shenzhen Metamaterial Industry Alliance.
Kuang-Chi masters five core technologies: high-performance modeling, high-concurrency computing, fine manufacturing, large-scale optoelectronic perception coverage, and high-efficiency testing, and owns related independent intellectual property rights. As of 2021, Kuang-Chi had cumulatively filed 5,850 patent applications and obtained 3,616 authorized patents. Its total number of patent applications in the metamaterial field ranks among the top globally, achieving patent coverage of underlying metamaterial technologies. Kuang-Chi led the drafting and publication of the global metamaterial field national standard "Electromagnetic Metamaterial Terminology," breaking the technological and standard monopoly of Europe and the United States in frontier science and technology, and establishing China's international position in metamaterial technology research and standard transformation.
Driven by industrialization needs, Kuang-Chi transforms laboratory metamaterial scientific research into engineering practice and has built a complete metamaterial industrial system. The combination of Kuang-Chi's five core technologies with the equipment industry has formed a new generation of metamaterial technology, which has been applied to China's equipment ahead of others, seizing the initiative in the global competition for metamaterial industrialization and becoming an industry leader. In the process of vertical technology development, the combination of Kuang-Chi's five core technologies with the digital information industry has formed artificial intelligence coverage technology that can be applied to many fields such as urban management, education, finance, healthcare, commerce, and citizen services, effectively improving social governance and industry operational efficiency.
