Shanghai Power Equipment Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Power Equipment Research Institute") was founded in 1959, formerly the Turbine and Boiler Research Institute of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry, and is a Class I development and application research institute in the national power equipment manufacturing industry. In 1999, it was placed under Shanghai municipal management and transformed into a technology-based enterprise. It is now a key member enterprise of China National Power Investment Group Co., Ltd., a large central enterprise.
China National Power Investment Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "SPIC") is a super-large state-owned important backbone enterprise directly managed by the central government. It was established in July 2015 through the reorganization of the former China Power Investment Corporation and China Nuclear Power Technology Co., Ltd.
