About Intertek China
In 1989, Intertek Group established a joint venture company in Shenzhen, China (Shenzhen Intertek Testing Services Co., Ltd.). As the first third-party testing, inspection and certification institution with foreign investment participation, the establishment of the joint venture marked the beginning of China's opening-up and cooperation in the service trade sector. Since then, Intertek Group has established more than 100 laboratories or branches in over 40 large and medium-sized cities in China, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Wuxi, Hangzhou, Qingdao, and Xiamen, either through wholly-owned or joint venture arrangements. The number of employees has grown from just over a dozen at the time of establishment to more than 10,000 today. The business scope covers industries that we encounter in work and life, including petrochemicals, electronics and electrical, automotive components, food and agricultural products, minerals, energy and new energy, building materials, textiles and footwear, toys and light industrial products, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and many more.

Intertek's history can be traced back to the late 19th century when Caleb Brett founded the marine survey business and American inventor Thomas Edison established the lamp testing bureau, which later became the Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL). After more than a century of growth and business reorganization, * ultimately formed a company headquartered in London and listed on the London Stock Exchange (in 2002, ticker code ITRK.L). Intertek Group is one of the UK's FTSE 100 companies, helping many renowned international and domestic companies succeed in the global market.
