The 60th Research Institute of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army

The 60th Research Institute of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, directly under the Training Management Department of the Central Military Commission, is a public institution. Its predecessor was the Military Training Equipment Factory of the Military Training Department of the Central Military Commission, established in 1952. The institute is the earliest scientific research unit in China to develop military training simulation equipment, mainly engaged in the research and production of four series of products: unmanned aerial vehicles, live-force combat training, simulation training, and targets and shooting ranges, widely applied in the training of the army, navy, and air force, reserve forces, public security, armed police, and militia. The institute is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, adjacent to the Purple Mountain Scenic Area, with more than 1,300 employees, covering an area of over 1,000 mu, with fixed assets of 500 million yuan and annual production and sales exceeding 1 billion yuan.
Through more than 60 years of innovative development, the institute has accumulated strong technical strength, with more than 400 scientific and technological talents, including nearly a hundred senior talents such as experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, provincial and municipal academic leaders, researcher-level senior engineers, and doctors. The institute has more than ten professional research offices and laboratories with complete disciplines, and has reached advanced levels in core key technologies such as overall design of unmanned aerial vehicles, flight control, small turbojet power, three-dimensional modeling and simulation, reliability engineering, and laser communication. The institute has passed the national quality management system software development capability certification, obtained the qualification for scientific research and production units and the qualification for confidentiality units, and has provided hundreds of thousands of sets of modern military training equipment and teaching facilities to the entire army and military academies, with dozens of scientific research achievements having won first and second prizes of national and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress, and holds hundreds of patents.
