Railway Engineering Research Institute of China Academy of Railway Sciences Group Co., Ltd.

The Railway Engineering Research Institute of the China Academy of Railway Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Railway Engineering Institute") was established in 1950 and is a comprehensive scientific research institution in the field of railway permanent way and civil engineering in China. In recent years, it has mainly undertaken complete sets of technical research in the field of high-speed railway and heavy-haul railway line infrastructure, and has also undertaken scientific experiments and design in the renovation of existing railways, as well as technical services such as consulting, supervision and testing for major engineering projects.
The Railway Engineering Institute has always adhered to the path of closely integrating scientific research with construction and operation practice. Over more than 60 years since its establishment, it has achieved fruitful results in the fields of track engineering, bridge and structural engineering, geotechnical and underground engineering, engineering materials, blasting engineering, engineering testing, engineering supervision, safety monitoring, track maintenance machinery, etc., and has won a total of 122 science and technology awards, 242 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards, and owns a total of 126 patents. The Railway Engineering Institute is the centralized management unit for railway construction and engineering standards of China Railway Corporation and has undertaken the compilation of major technical standards for railway permanent way engineering, making important contributions to the development of China's railway undertaking.
The Railway Engineering Institute currently has 311 employees. Among them, there are 293 professional and technical personnel, accounting for 94.2% of the total number of employees; and 18 workers. Among the employees, 45 have doctoral degrees, 151 have master's degrees, and 80 have bachelor's degrees. Among the scientific and technical personnel, there are 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 44 with senior professional titles, 103 with associate senior professional titles, and 124 with intermediate professional titles; 5 railway professional technical leaders, 15 institute-controlled technical positions, and 1 institute-controlled technician; 14 doctoral supervisors and 21 master's supervisors. The Institute has 1 postdoctoral research station, 3 doctoral student training points and 8 master's student training points.
The Railway Engineering Institute has now passed the certification of three systems: the ISO9001 Quality Management System, the ISO14001 Environmental Management System and the OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. It is more systematic and scientific in the management of quality, environment and occupational health and safety, and will provide more satisfactory services to the industry.
