The Fifth Research and Design Institute of Nuclear Industry, established in 1958, is a large-scale comprehensive Grade A research and design institute under the China National Nuclear Corporation. It primarily engages in consulting, survey, design, supervision, and general contracting for the nuclear industry, civil industry, and construction engineering. It holds Grade A qualifications in engineering consulting, nuclear industry design, civil building design, building intelligence, light industry, wastewater treatment, engineering cost, construction supervision, and general contracting of projects. In 1998, it was the first in Zhengzhou to pass the ISO9001 quality system certification, and in 2003, it passed the ISO9001:2000 quality system conversion certification. The institute currently has 582 employees, including 27 researcher-level senior engineers, 135 senior engineers, 203 engineers, 8 registered architects, 44 registered structural engineers, 63 registered electrical, chemical, and equipment engineers, and 26 registered consultants at the national and provincial levels. The institute possesses more than 40 specialties, with complete professional coverage, a rational configuration, and strong technical strength, along with experience in mastering modern engineering design technology and scientific management. It has completed over 30 national key engineering projects and more than 1000 civil and industrial engineering design tasks, including high-rise and super-high-rise office buildings, intelligent office buildings, large sports venues, convention and exhibition centers, hotels, hospitals, schools, and high-end residential buildings, with achievements spanning 26 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide. It has conducted fruitful cooperation in various forms with more than ten countries and regions, including the United States, France, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan, and has received over 140 awards of various types, including: 1 national excellent design gold award, 2 silver awards, and 1 design gold award from the Ministry of Construction. It has won 13 first prizes, 29 second prizes, and 14 third prizes for provincial and ministerial excellent designs. In the past few years, it has undertaken various types of projects across the country, involving large public buildings and government building complexes, science, education, culture, health, sports, and exhibition buildings, as well as residential area planning and housing, and has cooperated with renowned domestic and international design institutions on dozens of large-scale civil buildings, earning awards and praise from owners, peers, and authoritative bodies. Among them, Zhengzhou Yuda International Trade Building, Henan Daily Press Building, Zhengdong New District Real Estate Exhibition Center, Zhengdong New District Shunchi Plaza, and Shunchi Central Special Zone have all received worldwide recognition. In 2001, Shenzhen Gonghe Shijia won the gold award for architectural design in the pilot of urban residential district construction by the Ministry of Construction. In 2003, Changcheng Kangqiao Garden won the national gold award for residential planning and environment.
