Chongqing Vocational University of Mechanical and Electrical Technology

Chongqing Vocational University of Mechanical and Electrical Technology, formerly Chongqing Industrial Staff University, was composed of eight staff universities including Chang'an, Jiangling, Jialing, Jianshe, Changjiang, Wangjiang, Xiche, and Luhua. In 2003, an ordinary higher education institution was established on the basis of Chongqing Ordnance Staff University. On May 27, 2019, the Ministry of Education officially issued a document (Jiaofahan [2019] No. 36), approving the official renaming of Chongqing Vocational College of Mechanical and Electrical Technology (Undergraduate) to "Chongqing Vocational University of Mechanical and Electrical Technology", making it one of the first pilot undergraduate vocational education universities in China, enrolling undergraduate students nationwide starting from 2019. The university is located in Bishan, the Western New Area of Chongqing, covering an area of 948 mu with a building area of 300,000 square meters. The campus has reasonable planning, is built along the mountain, with elegant environment, beautiful scenery, magnificent buildings, complete teaching facilities, large-scale training centers, and fully equipped student dormitories, sports venues, and living service centers. It is a high-quality campus suitable for living, traveling, and studying. In the course of 50 years of running the school, the university has gradually formed the school-running characteristics of "originating from ordnance industry, military-civilian integration, and service", "docking with industry, intelligent manufacturing, and outstanding advantages", "school-enterprise cooperation, industry-education integration, and collaborative education". It has successively won the titles of "Top Ten Characteristic Vocational Schools in China", "Top 100 Vocational Colleges in Employment in China", "National Demonstration Unit for Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation", "National Advanced Unit for School-Enterprise Cooperation", and "National Advanced Unit for Education". The university is a targeted training college for non-commissioned officers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Chongqing, a standing council member unit of the Chinese Military Culture Research Association, a vice-chairman unit of the Security Industry Alliance, and a high-skilled talent training base. The university currently offers 17 vocational undergraduate majors, including Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Material Forming and Control Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Internet of Things Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Big Data Technology and Application, Automotive Service Engineering, Engineering Cost, Logistics Management, and Preschool Education. It also offers 47 associate degree majors, including Mechanical Design and Manufacturing, CNC Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Technology, Automobile Assembly Technology, Construction Engineering, and Accounting and Auditing. The university's Experimental and Training Center has Mechanical Engineering Center, Sino-German Automotive Engineering Center, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Center, Industry-Education Integration Collaborative Innovation Center, and Virtual Simulation Teaching and Training Center. It has 3 training bases supported by central finance, 125 on-campus and off-campus internship and training bases, including 66 off-campus post internship bases. The university has a collection of nearly 1.38 million paper and electronic books. The university currently has 987 faculty and staff, including 769 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 234 have associate senior or above professional and technical titles, accounting for 30.43% of full-time teachers; 344 full-time teachers have graduate degrees, accounting for 44.73% of full-time teachers. The university has 12 colleges, including School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Vehicle and Transportation, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Information Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Business Administration, School of Art, School of General Education, School of Non-Commissioned Officers, School of Child Development and Health Management, School of Digital Art, and School of Marxism. There are currently 19,315 undergraduate and associate degree students. The university actively responds to the call of the 19th National Congress to "deepen industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation", and opens a collaborative education platform for government, industry, enterprises, and schools. Through "joint customized training programs", "cooperative development of professional courses", "co-building teaching teams", "co-building training bases", "order-based training", and "industry-university-research exchanges", the university realizes diversified school-enterprise cooperation. It cooperates with more than 200 enterprises including Port Group, BOE, Chang'an, Changjiang Electric, Dongfeng Xiaokang, Zhongqi Southwest, Zotye, and Xinlonghu, involving state-owned enterprises, central enterprises, military enterprises, private enterprises, and Sino-foreign joint ventures. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has reached 98%. The successful upgrading of the university to undergraduate level, the continuous deepening of national vocational education reform, and the implementation of the higher vocational enrollment expansion plan have created huge development opportunities for the university and ushered in a better future and prospects. As one of the first pilot undergraduate vocational education universities in China, the university will, as always, maintain the attributes and characteristics of vocational education, adhere to connotative construction and characteristic development, strive to improve the level and quality of education, focus on cultivating vocational undergraduate talents who are "knowledge-based, skilled, and innovative" and "with the spirit of model workers, craftsmen, and dedication", promote vocational education to a higher level and higher quality, cultivate more high-level technical and skilled talents for Chongqing and even the whole country, and run education that satisfies the people!
