Introduction to Nanchang Vocational University Nanchang Vocational University is a full-time regular undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the first pilot schools for undergraduate-level vocational education in China and has the qualification to award nationally recognized regular undergraduate and junior college diplomas. The predecessor of the university was Jiangxi Dayu Business College, founded in 1993. In April 2003, with the approval of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and registration by the Ministry of Education, it was established as a regular higher vocational college and renamed Jiangxi Dayu Vocational and Technical College. In April 2011, it was renamed Nanchang Vocational College. In December 2018, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to an undergraduate-level vocational school - Nanchang Vocational College (Undergraduate). In May 2019, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Nanchang Vocational University. Pan Jiluan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Tsinghua University, was appointed as consultant to the college. The university is located in Nanchang City, a famous historical and cultural city known as "a land of treasures and a place of outstanding people." It covers an area of more than one thousand mu, with more than ten thousand teachers and students. The total building area of the campus is 357,000 square meters, with a collection of more than one million paper books and 1.23 million e-books. It has 21 on-campus experimental and practical training centers and 118 off-campus internship and practical training bases. A digital campus network has been established, teaching and living facilities are complete, and the campus environment is beautiful. The university currently has 530 full-time teachers, among whom 196 have senior professional and technical titles (including 81 with full senior titles), 247 have master's degrees or above, more than 260 are "dual-qualified" teachers, and there are also more than 100 part-time teachers from industries and enterprises. Professional leaders and teaching teams are fully equipped, and the faculty is strong. The university has the Department of Engineering, Department of Economics and Management, Department of Information Technology, Department of Music and Dance, Department of Art and Design, Department of Humanities and Foreign Languages, Department of Sports and Health, and the School of Entrepreneurship. Aiming at modern service industries, advanced manufacturing, strategic emerging industries, and new "Internet+" business forms, the university offers 10 vocational undergraduate majors and 37 junior college majors. It has built backbone major groups in business management, intelligent manufacturing, information technology, artistic creativity, and cultural education, and has formed a major system with coordinated development of new business, new engineering, and new liberal arts. Over the 26 years since its founding, the university has fully implemented the Party's educational policy, carried out the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, adhered to the philosophy of "education-oriented, morality first, skills foremost," and fulfilled the service commitment of "let my sincere service pave the way for your success." It has vigorously promoted school-enterprise cooperation, industry-education integration, and Jiangxi-Taiwan exchanges, carried forward the core socialist values, inherited and promoted fine traditional Chinese culture, and cultivated and passed on the spirit of craftsmanship and the spirit of model workers. It has trained more than 80,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for the country's economic and social development, forming a school-running model of "open education, vocational leadership, cultivation of both morality and skills, and integration of learning and doing" and a school-running characteristic of "combination of industry and commerce, cultivation of both arts and science." It has highlighted its unique Jiangxi-Taiwan service advantage and was authorized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangxi Province as a "Jiangxi-Taiwan Youth Exchange Base."
