China Datang Corporation Ltd. is a super-large power generation enterprise group formed on December 29, 2002, based on some enterprises and institutions of the former State Power Corporation. It is a wholly state-owned company directly managed by the central government, and is a state-authorized investment institution and a pilot state holding company approved by the State Council.
As of the end of 2011, China Datang Group's assets in operation and under construction were distributed across 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China, as well as in foreign countries such as Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Kazakhstan. Its installed power generation capacity reached 144.21 million kilowatts, an increase of 5.05 times from 23.8475 million kilowatts at the time of its establishment. Total assets reached 758.5 billion yuan, and total employees exceeded 100,000.
In 2018, 2019, and 2020, China Datang Group ranked 468th, 438th, and 465th, respectively, in the Fortune Global 500.
