Jiangxi Survey and Design Institute (Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology Brigade of Jiangxi Geological Bureau), founded in 1958, is a specialized team engaged in hydrogeological and engineering geological work in Jiangxi at an early stage. It is a state-owned comprehensive survey, design and construction unit integrating hydrogeology and water resources, geotechnical engineering, architectural design and construction drawing review, geothermal resources, mineral water, solid mineral exploration and development, municipal construction and foundation engineering, geological hazards and green mines, shallow geothermal energy development and utilization, ecological environmental protection and pollution prevention, geophysical prospecting and testing, surveying and mapping and geographic information, experimental testing, and geological materials supply.

The institute currently has nearly 1,500 employees, including more than 1,200 professional and technical personnel. Among them are more than 200 registered personnel of various types, including registered civil engineers (geotechnical), registered public utility engineers (water supply and drainage, HVAC), registered electrical engineers (power supply and distribution), first-class registered structural engineers, registered consulting engineers, registered cost engineers, registered surveyors, first-class registered architects, first-class registered construction engineers, and other registered personnel. Over one hundred personnel have been selected into national and provincial expert databases. The institute holds more than 10 Class A qualifications, including comprehensive engineering survey, architectural engineering design, geological hazard treatment investigation, design, construction and risk assessment, liquid mineral exploration, hydrogeological and environmental geological survey, hydrology and water resources survey and evaluation, construction project water resources argumentation, and surveying and mapping geographic information. It also holds multiple Class B qualifications, including first-class professional contracting for foundation engineering, construction drawing review, solid mineral exploration, land planning, and environmental pollution treatment, as well as more than 20 qualifications including engineering quality testing, experimental testing, land consolidation, preparation of soil and water conservation plans for production and construction projects, and general contracting for construction engineering, municipal public works, and mechanical and electrical engineering construction. Its business service scope has passed certification for quality, environment, occupational health, and information security management systems.

Since its establishment, the institute has continuously expanded its business scope and service areas, covering various types of geotechnical engineering survey, architectural engineering design, pile foundation and composite foundation testing, monitoring, consulting and supervision, treatment, geological hazard risk assessment (including assessment of mineral resources covered by construction), geological hazard treatment engineering investigation, design, and construction, hydrogeological survey, well drilling, underground dewatering, engineering geophysical prospecting and pipeline detection, geothermal and mineral water and shallow geothermal energy survey, evaluation, development and utilization, surveying and mapping, foundation pit engineering and foundation treatment construction, etc. According to statistics, the institute completes more than 3,000 contracted projects annually, with an annual output value of over 1.5 billion yuan. Its external offices have extended to more than 20 provinces, and it has undertaken multiple overseas projects in countries such as Ethiopia, Cambodia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Congo, and Benin.
