Western Mining Group Co., Ltd. was established in 2000, with its headquarters in Xining City, Qinghai Province. Its predecessor was the Xitieshan Mining Bureau of China National Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation. In 2007, its subsidiary Western Mining Co., Ltd. was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. After years of development, the company has formed a diversified enterprise group integrating mining and smelting, salt lake chemical industry, ecotourism, and technology information, with over 40 subsidiaries across 11 provinces and cities nationwide, total assets of 70 billion yuan, operating revenue of 68.8 billion yuan, and total resource potential value exceeding 1.2 trillion yuan.
The company currently holds 8 exploration rights and 16 mining rights, and is developing and operating ten large-scale mines including Tibet Yulong Copper Mine, Qinghai Xitieshan Lead-Zinc Mine, Inner Mongolia Huogeqi Copper Mine, Sichuan Huidong Daliang Lead-Zinc Mine, Sichuan Gacun Silver Polymetallic Mine, Xinjiang Hami Huangshannan Copper-Nickel Mine, Xinjiang Hami Baishanquan Iron Mine, Gansu Subei Qijiaojing Vanadium and Iron Mine, Inner Mongolia Shuangli Iron Mine, and Golmud Lalinggaolihe Lower Reaches Iron Polymetallic Mine, with an annual mining and processing capacity of 36.5 million tons. Based on abundant mineral resources, the company continuously promotes the value enhancement of the nonferrous metals industry chain, adopts world-leading smelting technologies, and has formed a smelting system with annual capacities of 350,000 tons of copper, 200,000 tons of lead, and 200,000 tons of zinc, achieving an integrated layout from mining and processing to metal smelting. It has built China's first green environmental stone coal clean vanadium extraction production line with leading process technology.
Actively participating in the construction of the salt lake industrial base, the company deeply cultivates salt lake resources, striving for magnesium development. It now has a production capacity of 200,000 tons of magnesium hydroxide and its series products, with process technology reaching advanced levels. It has built a production line for 200,000 tons of plateau green edible salt, and the "Chaka Salt" brand is now distributed nationwide and expanding globally. An annual production line of 100,000 tons of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride has been built, filling the gap in the fluoride chemical industry in the Qinghai-Tibet region.
The company actively contributes to the construction of the "International Ecotourism Destination", successfully creating the well-known tourism brand "Chaka Salt Lake: Mirror of the Sky", which was rated by National Geographic Traveler as one of the "55 places to visit in a lifetime". It also operates one of the world's only three remaining primitive populus euphratica forests: Xinjiang Yiwu Populus Euphratica tourism brand, allowing visitors to touch the vicissitudes of time and travel through millennia at a glance.
