BWI (Beijing West Industry) is a high-end chassis supplier that designs and manufactures braking and suspension systems for the passenger car market. On November 1, 2009, the newly established Beijing West Industry Co., Ltd. successfully acquired the global braking and suspension business of Delphi. Beijing West Industry is a joint venture funded by Shougang Corporation and Fangshan State-owned Assets Management Company. Beijing West Industry also operates worldwide under the name of Beijing West Industries Group. The successful acquisition of Delphi's braking and suspension business by Beijing West Industry is the largest domestic auto parts acquisition case to date.

Beijing West Industry has opened a new chapter for this company with a rich automotive tradition that started in Dayton, Ohio, USA. Starting with the Dayton Engineering Laboratories (Delco), the company pioneered the automotive electric starter, which was widely adopted by the global automotive industry, and then invented new automotive lamps, ignition systems, and other products. The company eventually became part of General Motors, known as the Delco Products Division, and began producing shock absorbers in 1927. Over time, many new suspension products emerged, from MacPherson struts to suspension leveling systems and electronically controlled shock absorbers. Its sister company, GM's Delco Moraine, manufactured automotive brake products at the time. From the 1930s, Delco Moraine began producing drum brakes, which later led to power brakes, disc brakes, and controllable brakes.

By the 1990s, Delco and Delco Moraine merged to form Delco Chassis, a comprehensive chassis service company covering suspension and braking systems, modules, and components. In the late 1990s, GM formed Delphi and spun off its parts divisions. Delco Chassis became Delphi Chassis, and Delphi inherited a pioneering spirit, continuously developing new customers in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America.
