中国医学科学院基础医学研究所、北京协和医学院基础学院（以下简称为所院）成立于1978年，是一所学科齐全、设备先进、力量雄厚的科研院所。所（院）以学科建设为基础，重视科研发展和人才培养。现承担着科研和教学两大任务：科研方面目前承担着中国医学科学院医学与健康科技创新工程、国家重点基础研究发展计划（973）、重大科学研究计划、国家高技术研究发展计划（863）、科技支撑计划及国家自然科学基金重大、重点、创新研究群体、杰出青年基金、创新引智计划等百余项*科研项目；教学方面承担着北京协和医学院八年制医学本科生和硕、博士研究生的教学任务，是国家首批批准的博士学位和硕士学位授予单位。
