上海石油化工研究院长期致力于石油化工烯烃和芳烃的技术开发。已建立起一支基础研究、催化剂研制和工艺、工程开发直至承担重大工程项目基础建设的技术队伍。全院现拥有职工近700余名，其中科技人员500余名，中国工程院院士1名。
