Hunan College of Foreign Studies was founded in 1993. In February 2006, approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province, it officially became a higher vocational college. It is one of the "Top 50 Higher Vocational Colleges with International Influence" and is one of the five universities in China that have been admitted as members of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics. The college operates campuses in Changsha and Liuyang, covering an area of 1,062.5 mu. The Changsha campus is located in Dingziwan Street, Wangcheng District, Changsha City, Hunan Province. Currently, it has more than 13,000 enrolled students and over 800 faculty and staff. It has secondary schools including the School of English, School of Western Languages, School of Oriental Languages, School of Foreign-related Economic Management, School of Education and Art, School of Information Technology and Engineering, School of Medical and Health Management, and School of Marxism (under preparation), as well as three college platforms: School of Industry-Education Integration, School of International Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and School of International Education, offering 32 majors in total. The college plans to become a pilot undergraduate vocational education institution during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
