Shanghai Orient Design Institute

Shanghai Orient Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Orient Institute"), founded in 1964, is a dual-Class A architectural design unit approved by the Ministry of Construction of the People's Republic of China. It holds the architectural engineering design certificate and urban planning qualification certificate issued by the Ministry of Construction. After decades of development, adhering to the spirit of pragmatism and innovation, the Orient Institute enjoys a high reputation in the industry for its avant-garde design concepts, unique design works, and excellent services. With strong development momentum, its annual production value approaches 70 million yuan, and it has become one of the influential design and research institutions in China.

Nowadays, our institute gathers design talents from all over the country, with 180 professional technical personnel specializing in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, structure, water supply and drainage, electrical, HVAC, technical economics, and computer science. Among them, there are 16 national first-class registered architects, 22 national first-class registered structural engineers, 5 registered planners, and 122 other senior and intermediate technical personnel. Designers gather here to realize their persistent ideals, striving to create culturally rich and efficient spaces for people's life, work, and entertainment.

The main business scope covers four major sectors: architecture, landscape, planning, and commerce. It includes architectural engineering design and consulting, urban and small town planning, comprehensive municipal engineering design, building intelligence and system engineering design, architectural standard design, landscape art design, residential engineering, architectural standards, technology information technology, architectural history, and corresponding research work. It has basically formed an integrated industrial framework encompassing architectural design, urban construction planning, municipal engineering, building standards, construction information, engineering consulting, interior decoration, landscaping, and residential development.

Over the decades, we have completed a series of renowned architectural design projects, including the Shanghai Securities Technology Building, the Expansion Project of the German Consulate in Shanghai, the Office Building of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Organization Department, the Oriental Plaza, the Shanghai Yujing Pearl International Business Plaza, the Bilingual School Affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University, the Zhaoxiang Characteristic Residential Area, the Shanghai Aijia Asia Garden, the Rhine Town, and others.
