Shenzhen Youyi Book City Co., Ltd. was founded in 1991. It owns sub-brands such as [Youyi Book City], [Mi Bookstore], and [Book Coffee Life]. At present, it has more than 50 chain bookstores nationwide, with a total operating area of more than 100,000 square meters, more than 1,000 employees, and more than 5 million registered members. Mi, a new brand under Youyi Book City, was founded in 2014 and is currently the group's main brand for development. Positioned as a large study for urban families, it integrates multiple business forms such as reading, coffee, cultural and creative products, parent-child activities, fine stationery, and cultural activities. Mi is related to the character mi, meaning to seek and search—externally, observing all things with the eyes; internally, seeking the true self with the heart. Its glyph takes "not seeing"; if not seeing, then seek. Its brand philosophy emphasizes not merely a simple way of reading, but the pursuit of a unique attitude of progress and upward striving and a spirit of freedom.
Mi Bookstore takes cities as units and has established three major cultural brands under it: "Mi Reading Shenzhen," "Mi Reading Dongguan," and "Mi Reading Heyuan." It holds more than 500 wonderful activities each year, covering five major content sections: reading clubs, recitation meetings, lectures by famous experts, parent-child picture books, and experience salons, among others.
