Design & Research Institute of Nanchang University

The Design & Research Institute of Nanchang University (abbreviated as NCUD) was founded in 1963 and is one of the earlier Class A (comprehensive) design institutes established among universities nationwide, with a history of nearly 60 years to date. Relying on being a university under the national "Double First-Class" plan discipline construction and a key university under the national "Project 211", NCUD possesses profound and extensive advantages in academic, scientific research and talent resources. As a base for industry-university-research integration and talent cultivation for the university's multiple disciplines such as architecture, urban planning, civil engineering, art design and environmental engineering, it adheres to the institute purpose of "humanistic virtue, perseverance and innovation, industry-university-research-creation, and serving society", and has made important contributions to the province's architectural engineering construction and technical services, with its architecture and planning design level ranking among the top in the province. NCUD currently holds design qualifications including National Class A for Architectural Engineering Design, Class B for Urban Planning, Class B for Landscape Architecture, Class B for Civil Air Defense Engineering, and Class B for Municipal Public Utilities (water supply, drainage, roads), as well as Class I qualification for comprehensive review of construction drawings (including super-high-limit review), and possesses the capability for whole-process consulting and related technical and management services corresponding to these qualifications. Meanwhile, NCUD is a council member of the Architectural Society of China, vice chairman unit of the Jiangxi Provincial Survey and Design Association, and vice chairman unit of the Jiangxi Provincial Civil Engineering and Architecture Society. NCUD currently has 6 design offices, 7 research institutes (centers) and scientific research institutions, and several professor design teams or senior professor studios. It currently has more than 500 design and management personnel, among whom there are over 160 registered personnel such as national registered architects, registered planners, registered structural engineers, registered electrical engineers, registered public utility engineers, and registered cost engineers, as well as personnel with senior professional titles or above. NCUD has strong talent and technical strength and complete professional configuration. Relying on its own strength and the talent and technical advantages of the university's disciplines such as architecture, planning, art and environment, it emphasizes the combination of design practice and theoretical research, and of engineering technology and artistic innovation, and focuses on maximizing the interests of owners and social benefits, winning praise and acclaim from all sectors of society with efficient and high-quality design. In recent years, it has undertaken a large number of influential planning and engineering designs both within and outside the province, and has won multiple national, ministerial and provincial excellent design awards, quality engineering awards and scientific and technological achievement awards in successive excellent architectural design selections.
