北京物资学院是一所以物流学科为特色，以经济学科为基础，以管理学科为骨干，涵盖经济学，管理学，理学，工学，文学，法学等多种学科协调发展的国家普通高等院校。其前生是1963年北京经济学院设立的物资管理系，1980年，为适合我国改革开放和经济发展的要求，经国务院批准，成立了北京物资学院。学院先后属于国家物资局、物资部、国内贸易部，1998年国家对高等教育管理体制进行调整，学校划归北京市管理。
