Everbright International

China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International") is the flagship industrial investment company under China Everbright Group. It is listed on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock Code: 00257) and is a constituent stock of the "MSCI China Index", the "Hang Seng Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Index" (i.e. the Red Chip Index), and the "Hang Seng China 100 Index". It has also been selected as a constituent stock of the "Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index" for the fourth consecutive year. In December 2014, Everbright International spun off its environmental water business, reverse-acquired a water environment management company listed on the Singapore Exchange, and renamed it "China Everbright Water Investments Limited".
Everbright International is a product of China's reform and opening-up, a pathfinder of the market economy, and one of the first batch of Chinese-funded red-chip companies established in Hong Kong in the 1980s. It combines the triple identity of a central state-owned enterprise, foreign-invested enterprise, and listed company. The company transformed into the energy-saving, environmental protection and low-carbon industry in 2003, with three main businesses: environmental energy, environmental water, and green environmental protection. It has now developed into a high-tech industrial investment company integrating "project investment, engineering construction, operation management, technology research and development, and equipment manufacturing", and is China's *comprehensive, one-stop environmental protection industry service provider. With mature technology and advanced management, the company has established its position as a leader in China's environmental protection industry. In 2012, it was praised by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and other seven ministries as a "*enterprise in China's environmental protection industry". In 2013, it topped the list of the top ten influential enterprises in China's solid waste industry and was selected as a "Hong Kong Outstanding Enterprise" for seven consecutive years. In both 2014 and 2015, at the 4th and 5th Asian Excellence Awards, the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chen Xiaoping, was awarded Asia's *Best CEO.
At present, Everbright International has implemented more than 140 projects. Its main businesses include waste-to-energy power generation, biomass power generation, solar photovoltaic power, wind power generation, biogas power generation, safe disposal of solid waste, sewage treatment, reclaimed water reuse, environmental protection engineering construction, technology development, environmental protection equipment manufacturing, and planning and construction of environmental protection industrial parks. The company focuses its investment on the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, and Bohai Bay Economic Zone, with projects spread across more than 50 counties and cities in 11 provinces including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Anhui, Guangdong, Hainan, Shanxi, Hunan, Henan, and Shaanxi, as well as in Germany and other places.
With the core value that "an enterprise is not only a creator of material wealth, but should also be a bearer of environmental and social responsibility", Everbright International actively participates in social welfare activities such as energy conservation and emission reduction, environmental education, charitable donations, and environmental greening with a high sense of social responsibility and mission. All of the company's environmental protection projects take "stable operation and compliant emissions" as their bounden duty. Regardless of project size or investment amount, adhering to the purpose of "building quality projects and creating brands", it has completed a number of high-standard, high-quality environmental protection projects, becoming a benchmark and demonstration in China's environmental protection industry in engineering construction and operation management. Since the commencement of its *environmental protection project in 2005, it has cumulatively treated 22.636 million tons of waste including municipal solid waste, industrial hazardous waste, and rural straw, and provided 7.16 billion kWh of green electricity, equivalent to saving 2.864 million tons of standard coal and achieving a CO2 emission reduction of 8.673 million tons; annually treating 3.76 billion cubic meters of municipal industrial and domestic sewage and leachate, achieving a COD reduction of 1.435 million tons.
