Wuhan Kaiyuan Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd. is the first intellectual property service institution in Hubei Province approved by the China National Intellectual Property Administration with the qualification to handle foreign-related patent agency business. Its predecessor was Wuhan Patent Office, established in 1985, and it underwent overall restructuring in 2001.
The company has a Patent Department, Trademark Department, International Department, Legal Affairs Department, Business Coordination Department, Process Department, Administrative Department, Enterprise Intellectual Property Strategy Research Office, and Optical Valley Branch. It also has offices in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, Wuhan Zhuankou Economic Development Zone, and the buildings of the provincial and municipal intellectual property administrations. It is mainly engaged in consulting on patent, trademark, and copyright matters; agency services for patent applications, reexamination, declaration of patent invalidation, trademark registration, opposition, renewal, copyright registration, computer software registration, integrated circuit layout design registration, customs intellectual property recordal, intellectual property licensing trade and contract recordal, intellectual property ownership disputes and infringement litigation; patent and trademark searches and inquiries; and serving as enterprise intellectual property consultants and other related intellectual property affairs.
