Founded in 1991, Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in November 1996. In its early days, the company mainly assembled and produced household air conditioners. It has now developed into a diversified, technology-driven global industrial manufacturing group, covering two major sectors: household consumer goods and industrial equipment. Its products are sold to more than 190 countries and regions.

The company has 77 production bases both domestically and internationally, located in Guangdong, Chongqing, Anhui, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Tianjin, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Shandong, as well as Brazil and Pakistan. It also operates 6 renewable resource bases in Changsha, Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, Wuhu, Tianjin, and Zhuhai, covering the entire industrial chain from upstream production to downstream recycling, achieving green, circular, and sustainable development.

The company currently has 16 research institutes: Refrigeration Technology Research Institute, Electromechanical Technology Research Institute, Home Appliance Technology Research Institute (two), New Energy and Environmental Technology Research Institute, Health Technology Research Institute, Communication Technology Research Institute, Intelligent Equipment Technology Research Institute, Robotics Research Institute, Internet of Things Research Institute, Equipment Power Technology Research Institute, Motor System Technology Research Institute, Washing Technology Research Institute, Refrigeration and Cold Storage Technology Research Institute, Building Environment and Energy Conservation Research Institute, and Electrical and Electrical Materials Research Institute. There are 152 research institutes, 1,411 laboratories, and 1 academician workstation (motors and control). It has one National Engineering Technology Research Center, one national industrial design center, one nationally recognized enterprise technology center, and one robotics engineering technology R&D center. It has also become a national notification and consultation center for refrigeration equipment research and evaluation base and a national standard verification point (refrigeration equipment energy conservation).

Persisting in innovation-driven development. The company proposed R&D funds "invested as needed, with no upper limit." After long-term accumulation, as of January 2026, Gree Electric Appliances has filed a cumulative total of 139,207 patent applications, of which 77,103 are invention patent applications; the cumulative authorized invention patents reach 32,524. It is the only home appliance company in China to rank among the top ten in the number of authorized invention patents for eight consecutive years. It currently owns 50 "international leading" technologies and has won 2 National Science and Technology Progress Awards, 2 National Technological Invention Awards, 3 China Patent Gold Awards (including one "Gree Titanium" award), 3 China Appearance Design Gold Awards, 16 Geneva Invention Exhibition Gold Awards, and 12 Nuremberg Invention Exhibition Gold Awards. According to data released by iMedia's "HVAC & Heat Pump," Gree central air conditioners have held the top market share in China for 13 consecutive years.

Adhering to quality first. The company abides by the principle of honest management, takes customer needs as the guide, and strictly controls quality source control and system construction. Since 2010, Gree air conditioner customer satisfaction has maintained industry-leading status for 16 consecutive years. In 2018, the company won the third "China Quality Award." In 2019, the "Quality Management - Innovation Cycle Guide Driven by Customer Needs" drafted with Gree Electric Appliances' participation was approved as a national standard.

Persisting in transformation and upgrading. The company implements supply-side structural reform, adjusts and optimizes the industrial layout, actively promotes intelligent manufacturing upgrades, and strives to achieve high-quality development. Since 2013, Gree has successively entered fields such as intelligent equipment, communication equipment, and molds, extending from professional air conditioning production to diversified high-end technology industries. At present, Gree intelligent equipment not only provides advanced equipment for its own automation transformation but also serves many industries such as home appliances, automobiles, food, 3C digital products, building materials, and sanitary ware.

In the first three quarters of 2025, Gree Electric Appliances achieved total operating revenue of 137.654 billion yuan and net profit attributable to the parent company of 21.461 billion yuan; the net profit margin attributable to the parent company reached 15.59%, a year-on-year increase of 0.69 percentage points, fully demonstrating the company's stable and strong profitability.
