Among them, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation and Environmental Design are pilot majors for transformational development in Hubei Province; Business Administration is a key (cultivated) discipline in Hubei Province; Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation is one of the first batch of provincial key cultivated undergraduate majors; three majors, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Technology, have been included in the undergraduate projects of the Strategic Emerging (Pillar) Industry Talent Training Program of Higher Education Institutions in Hubei Province; Marketing and Civil Engineering are "Comprehensive Major Reform Pilot" projects of undergraduate universities in Hubei Province. The school is one of the leading universities of the Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center approved for construction by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education and Department of Finance. In March 2014, the Ministry of Education's University Practical Teaching Equipment Research Center was established at Wuchang Institute of Technology. This center is one of the first 14 collaborative innovation research centers for educational equipment in the country. In November of the same year, the Hubei Provincial People's Government agreed to award the internship and practical training base jointly built by Wuchang Institute of Technology and other universities as a "Hubei Provincial Demonstration Internship and Practical Training Base for Higher Education Institutions."
