Guangzhou Guangri Elevator Industry Co., Ltd. was founded on June 23, 1982, with a registered capital of RMB 490 million, covering an area of 110,000 square meters with a building area of 60,000 square meters, and currently has more than 1,500 employees. Guangzhou Guangri Elevator Industry Co., Ltd. is the core enterprise of Guangzhou Guangri Co., Ltd., and is also the only remaining state-owned elevator enterprise in the elevator industry.

Guangri Elevator takes passenger elevators, machine-room-less elevators, escalators, moving walks, observation elevators, freight elevators, etc. as its leading products, and is a specialized and modern enterprise integrating product research and development, design, manufacturing, installation, and after-sales service. The company's product market share has remained among the top three domestic-funded elevator enterprises in China for many years, and it is the largest state-owned brand elevator enterprise in Guangdong Province. According to the 2008 (4th) "Top 20 Chinese Elevator Industry Ranking" by the China Industrial Economics Research Institute, Guangzhou Guangri Elevator Industry Co., Ltd. ranked ninth.

The predecessor of Guangzhou Guangri Elevator Industry Co., Ltd. was the Guangzhou Metal Structure Factory established in 1956. In 1973, it began trial production and application of its first freight elevator, embarking on the road of professional elevator manufacturing. It was one of the eight elevator manufacturing enterprises designated by the Ministry of Construction in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Since 1982, it has actively introduced Hitachi's frequency-controlled elevator technology from Japan, promoting the development of China's elevator industry, and continued to introduce Hitachi's advanced variable-frequency elevator technology until 1988. After years of digesting and absorbing Hitachi's advanced technology, Guangri Elevator became one of the "top three" in China's elevator industry in the mid-1990s. Since establishing its first-tier position in China's elevator industry, Guangri Elevator has always regarded improving its own technology research and development capabilities and building its core competitiveness as the top priority of corporate development. After years of accumulation and development, Guangri Elevator products have completed independent research and development and production of the full series, possessing more than ten patents, and have undertaken projects such as technical transformation and technological innovation in Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City for many times. It has been recognized as a "High-tech Enterprise", "Guangdong Provincial Enterprise Technology Center", and "Guangzhou Engineering Technology Research and Development Center", laying a solid foundation for strong technical research and development strength. In 2003, Guangri Elevator took the lead in applying permanent magnet synchronous technology in the industry, developing the GreenMax series of elevator products with energy-saving and environmental protection characteristics. Based on this, it successively developed GreenMin high-efficiency energy-saving escalators, home elevators, etc., shaping the product image of "safe and reliable, energy-saving and environmentally friendly".

In December 2001, the company integrated its management system and obtained ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS18001 certifications from an international certification body in one go. In 2009, the Guangri Industrial Park, in which Guangzhou Guangri Elevator Industry Co., Ltd. participated in construction, was completed in Shilou Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou City, becoming the largest elevator complete machine and parts manufacturing base in South China, further enhancing Guangri Elevator's production capacity, research and development capability, and manufacturing level, with an annual elevator production capacity of more than 10,000 units, laying the foundation for Guangri Elevator to achieve leapfrog development.
