Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as "Beijing Bio") was established on August 8, 2016. It is a wholly state-owned enterprise engaged in the research, production, and operation of biological products such as vaccines and diagnostic reagents. Beijing Bio was formed through the joint restructuring of the former Beijing Institute of Biological Products and Beijing Beishengyan Biological Products Co., Ltd., with its controlling shareholder being China National Biotec Group Company Limited and a registered capital of RMB 2,316,499,800. The company's history can be traced back to the Central Epidemic Prevention Bureau established during the Beiyang Government period in 1919. It is the cradle of biological products in New China and the domestic biological products enterprise with the largest output and the most complete variety of immunization program products. The company's products cover viral, bacterial, and genetic engineering vaccines, holding more than 30 drug production approvals, including the Measles-Mumps-Rubella series and Poliomyelitis series, with an annual output value exceeding RMB 1.5 billion. The company possesses a comprehensive quality management system and strong research and development capabilities, having made outstanding contributions to China's efforts in eradicating smallpox, eliminating polio, and controlling infectious diseases such as hepatitis B. In 2017, the company's Oral Poliomyelitis Attenuated Live Vaccine passed the World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification and secured procurement orders from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), making it the third biological products enterprise in China to pass WHO prequalification. As a leading central enterprise in the field of preventive biological products, Beijing Bio will implement the "13th Five-Year Plan" development strategies of Sinopharm and China National Biotec Group, adhere to reform and innovation, solidly advance supply-side structural reform, and contribute its share to promoting the development of the national biomedical industry, ensuring the implementation of the national immunization program, and safeguarding the health of the people.
