Guangzhou Bostal Controlled Release Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Bostal") is a multinational pharmaceutical enterprise dedicated to the research and development of new drug delivery systems and the internationalization of new formulations. It is committed to providing one-stop CRO and CDMO services for various conventional and complex pharmaceutical formulations, covering single-layer tablets, multi-layer tablets, hard capsules, soft capsules, conventional injections, lyophilized powder injections, eye drops, ointments, oral soluble films, transdermal patches, liposomes, microspheres, nanoparticles, and other dosage forms and formulation platforms.
Bostal was founded in July 2013 by Dr. Liu Rong, a renowned American formulation expert and a recipient of China's "National Major Talent Project", and is located in Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guangzhou Science City), known as the "Silicon Valley of South Guangdong". From 2018 to 2020, it was consecutively listed on Guangzhou's "Future Unicorns" Innovative Enterprise List. The company currently employs nearly 400 people, with over 50% holding master's or doctoral degrees. Dr. Liu Rong and his team have rich experience in the development and industrialization of innovative pharmaceutical formulations and novel drug delivery systems, with the core team having 25 years of R&D experience in the United States. The company currently has nearly 15,000 square meters of R&D and production area in use, including over 3,000 square meters of professional R&D space for oral solids, conventional and complex injections, and over 6,000 square meters of clean workshops (three workshops covering small-scale trials, pilot-scale, and commercial production for various oral formulations). Among them, the oral solid dosage form workshop has passed the U.S. FDA on-site inspection for two consecutive years, and the company has helped partners successfully develop and file a total of 38 ANDA and IND applications for generic and new drugs in China and the U.S. The construction of the new base for formulation R&D and industrialization, with a total building area exceeding 60,000 square meters, has been completed, with the oral solid dosage form workshop already in use, and the conventional and complex injection workshops having been successively put into use in the first quarter of 2022.
