Steinway & Sons has a long history. The company was founded in New York in 1853 and established a subsidiary in Hamburg, Germany in 1880. For 168 years, Steinway has consistently strived to manufacture the world's most exquisite pianos. The excellent quality of Steinway pianos stems not only from mature and exquisite technology and carefully selected materials, but also from Steinway's unremitting commitment to traditional craftsmanship, its inheritance, and innovation. To better meet the demand for Steinway pianos in China, Steinway established a wholly-owned subsidiary, Steinway & Sons (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., in the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in 2004, and upgraded it to Steinway & Sons (Asia Pacific) Co., Ltd. in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Steinway opened Steinway & Sons Beijing and the Steinway & Sons Beijing Shunyi Flagship Store in Beijing, Steinway & Sons Shanghai and the Steinway & Sons Shanghai Pudong Flagship Store in Shanghai, and Steinway & Sons Xi'an in Xi'an.
