SAIC-GM Automobile Wuhan Branch was established on April 18, 2012, located in Jiangxia District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, covering a total area of approximately 2.38 square kilometers. It planned to build complete vehicle and small engine projects, and the foundation was officially laid on June 6 of the same year. The first phase of the complete vehicle project has a total investment of RMB 7 billion, with a planned annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles in two shifts, producing small and medium-sized cars, SUVs and other products. The construction mainly includes four major workshops: stamping, body, painting and final assembly, as well as supporting facilities such as body distribution center, utility power center, after-sales parts distribution center, high-speed test track, vehicle shipping center, and administration building. The project commenced construction on September 28, 2012 and officially started production on January 28, 2015. On August 7, 2014, the second phase of the complete vehicle project with a total investment of RMB 7.5 billion was signed, with a planned annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles in two shifts, producing small and medium-sized traditional and new energy sedans, SUVs and other products. The construction includes new body, painting and final assembly workshops, as well as expansion of the stamping workshop, vehicle shipping center and other auxiliary facilities. The project officially started production on April 7, 2017. The powertrain project has a total investment of RMB 14.8 billion, with a planned maximum production capacity of over 2 million engines and 100,000 transmissions. It can produce BC, SGE, NGC, CVG, CSS series small engines, GFE new energy transmissions and other products. The construction mainly includes two major workshops, PTI and PTII, with supporting utility power center and bench laboratory. The Wuhan PDC (Parts Distribution Center) project covers an area of approximately 90,000 square meters. This center is the sixth parts distribution center after the distribution centers in Shanghai, Yantai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Chongqing. Based in Wuhan, it covers six provinces: Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shaanxi and Henan. Its establishment will provide strong after-sales service support for 315 after-sales service centers of the company's three major brands in Central China, greatly shortening the response time for after-sales parts orders in Central China. The 48-hour delivery coverage rate for routine orders will increase from 80% to 85%. In addition, the parts supplier and logistics supporting park covering about 2.8 square kilometers is planned, designed, constructed and put into production simultaneously with SAIC-GM Automobile Wuhan Branch. With 32 suppliers settled in the park, it will provide SAIC-GM Automobile Wuhan Branch with a highly efficient and complete industrial chain support. The complete vehicle production base of Wuhan Branch will adopt the world's advanced process equipment and international high-standard environmental protection facilities, transplant and extend SAIC-GM's excellent quality production and quality management system, and become a green and environmentally friendly factory integrating lean, agile, flexible and modular features. It can also realize multi-platform mixed production including small and medium-sized cars, SUVs, new energy sedans, etc. After completion, SAIC-GM Automobile Wuhan Branch will highlight its leading position in the local industrial cluster and bring greater driving force to regional economic growth.
