The First Design Institute of Design & Research Institute of Nanchang University

The Design & Research Institute of Nanchang University was founded in 1963. Its predecessor was the "Architectural Design Office of Jiangxi Institute of Technology". In 1994, after the former Jiangxi University and the former Jiangxi University of Technology merged to establish Nanchang University, it adopted its current name. It is one of the earlier Class A (comprehensive) design institutes established among universities nationwide, with a history of nearly fifty years.
Today, the Design & Research Institute of Nanchang University holds Class A qualifications for architectural design and engineering consulting, Class B qualifications for urban planning, landscape planning, and territorial planning, as well as qualifications for municipal and chemical engineering design. Its subordinate organizations also hold Class I (Class A) construction drawing review and judicial appraisal qualifications. Its business scope includes: high-rise and super high-rise large office buildings, hotels, commercial complexes, administrative office buildings; school campus planning and design; cultural buildings such as cinemas and theaters, libraries, and museums; sports buildings; hospital buildings; residential area planning and design; urban planning and urban design; intelligent building design and interior design; landscape architecture and landscape design; municipal public engineering; geotechnical engineering; curtain wall design; maintenance and protection of ancient buildings and modern/contemporary buildings, and cultural relic protection planning.
