Anhui Province Pioneer Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established in January 2004 and is located in the central area of Hefei High-tech Zone. Over the years, a cumulative investment of nearly 400 million RMB has been made to build multiple production lines with advanced domestic technology for injections, capsules, tablets, granules, etc. (all passed the new GMP certification) as well as pilot-scale R&D production lines. The total freeze-drying area can reach 120 square meters, and the regular powder and cephalosporin production lines can produce 200,000 units per single shift on a daily basis. The newly built traditional Chinese medicine extraction production line was put into use at the end of 2016.
Currently, the company has over 300 employees, with professional and technical personnel accounting for more than 80%, and over 40 people engaged in registration and formulation R&D. The company has invested over 50 million RMB to build one of the most advanced enterprise R&D centers in China, establishing a technological innovation system that is enterprise-led and combines industry, academia, research, and application. To date, the company holds nearly 70 drug approvals. In 2012, it was recognized as a "High-tech Enterprise" by the Science and Technology Department of Anhui Province. The R&D center has successively passed the certifications of Hefei Enterprise R&D Center and Hefei Engineering Research Center (Hefei New Salt-type Drug Engineering Research Center). The company has 2 patent certificates and has applied for 7 national invention patents, all of which are in the substantive examination stage, with 2 of them having filed for international invention patents through PCT.
In recent years, the company has established strategic cooperation with several well-known domestic API manufacturers and has set up an R&D center in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. The number of drug R&D filings and the approval rate have been favorable each year. The R&D projects mainly focus on the major disease spectrum expected in China over the next 20 years, covering large therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, antidepressants and psychiatric drugs (including anesthesia and analgesia), respiratory diseases, and digestive diseases.
