The company has one production line with an annual output of 10,000 tons of manganese metal; one production line with an annual output of 10,000 tons of electrolytic manganese metal powder; two production lines with an annual output of 15,000 tons of trimanganese tetroxide; and one production line with an annual output of 1,000 tons of iron-silicon powder.
The production technologies of the company's leading products are all independently developed by the enterprise. It is the first in China to produce manganese metal, among which low-gas-content manganese metal is exclusively produced in China and has obtained a national invention patent. In 2012, it was listed by the Ministry of Science and Technology as an SME technological innovation project. The company possesses multiple invention patents for products such as low-gas-content manganese metal and electronic-grade trimanganese tetroxide; it chaired the formulation of the industry standard "Manganese Metal Pillow" and participated in the formulation of the national standard "Trimanganese Tetroxide for Soft Magnetic Ferrite"; it hosted the national excellent metallurgical journal and Hunan Top Ten Science and Technology Journal "China Manganese Industry", enjoying a high voice in the industry.
II. Historical Evolution
In 1992, Hunan Special Metal Materials Factory was registered and established in Changsha National High-tech Development Zone, affiliated with the Mine Department of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry;
In 1993, a manganese metal powder production line was completed;
In 1994, a production line with an annual output of 500 tons of trimanganese tetroxide and a production line with an annual output of 300 tons of alloy additives were completed;
In 1995, a production line with an annual output of 10,000 tons of new-type manganese metal powder was completed;
In 1996, construction of a manganese metal production line was invested;
In 1997, trimanganese tetroxide was officially put on the market;
In 2002, Hunan Special Metal Materials Factory was changed to a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Metallurgical Mining Corporation;
In 2008, it was incorporated into China Sinosteel Group Corporation;
In 2008, due to the renovation of Binjiang New City in Changsha, the Sanchaiji factory was requisitioned by the government, and 37.34 mu of land was purchased in Jinzhou New District, Ningxiang to prepare for the construction of a production base;
In 2009, 1,160.55 square meters on the 5th floor of Building 5 in Jersey City was purchased as the office space for the factory headquarters;
In November 2009, a production line with an annual output of 7,000 tons of trimanganese tetroxide, a production line with an annual output of 5,000 tons of manganese metal, and a production line with an annual output of 10,000 tons of manganese powder were completed and put into operation;
In 2012, the newly built trimanganese tetroxide line was put into use, and the production capacity of trimanganese tetroxide reached 15,000 tons per year;
In 2014, the installation and commissioning of Fe-Si powder production line equipment was completed;
In August 2015, it was restructured from a state-owned enterprise to a one-person limited liability company and was renamed Hunan Special Metal Materials Co., Ltd.;
In June 2017, the company's shareholder changed from China Metallurgical Mining Corporation to Sinosteel Anhui Tianyuan Technology Co., Ltd.
