中国电子科技集团公司第三十四研究所（简称34所）始建于1971年，是隶属于世界500强中国电子科技集团有限公司的*一类骨干科研院所，也是我国中央企业*军事光通信技术总体单位、科技工业核心能力保留单位，更是国家光通信发源地之一。

建所以来，34所深耕光通信、光电子、光传感等领域，形成多专业融合发展格局，取得近千项科技成果、承建千余项光通信系统重大工程，先后参与“神舟”系列飞船、“嫦娥工程”、天宫及科技部专项等国家重大科研任务，填补我国光通信事业多项发展空白，斩获国家科技发明、全军科技进步、科技进步等多项*科技奖项，荣获全国工人先锋号、高新技术企业、文明单位等省部级及以上称号。

目前全所拥有在职员工一千余名，汇聚国务院政府特殊津贴专家、军科委专家、漓江学者团队、广西区优秀专家等骨干专家近百人；建成*博士后科研工作站、光网络与光信息安全重点实验室、光电芯片及微系统创新联合体等省部级及以上创新平台，同时为中文核心期刊《光通信技术》主办单位。
