China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CNPPRI) was founded in 1956, formerly known as the Paper Industry Research Institute of the Ministry of Light Industry. In 1999, it was transformed from a public research institution into a technology-based enterprise and joined China Light Industry Group Co., Ltd. In 2012, it moved into the Chaoyang Park of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in Wangjing. In November 2017, it completed the corporate restructuring and was renamed from China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute to China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute Co., Ltd. It is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Light Industry Group, directly under Poly Group, which is supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. CNPPRI adheres to the core of technology R&D and services, attaches importance to talent cultivation, and strengthens the construction of scientific and technological resources. It houses the National Engineering Laboratory for Pulp and Paper, the National Technical Committee for Paper Industry Standardization, the Productivity Promotion Center for Paper Industry, and the National Information Center for Paper Industry, as well as professional institutions such as China Paper Journal, the Tissue Paper Committee of China Paper Association, the Specialty Paper Committee of China Technical Association of Paper Industry, the Paper-based Green Packaging Materials and Products Committee of CTAPI, and the Recycled Fiber Utilization Technology Committee of CTAPI, providing comprehensive services in technology, standards, quality, and information to meet the needs of the industry. CNPPRI has an expert technical team with high professional levels and rich research experience. Over the past 60 years, it has completed more than 1,700 research projects, of which over 180 have won various awards from the state and ministries (commissions), making it a main force in promoting technological progress in China's paper industry. Meanwhile, CNPPRI is also a promoter of foreign technical exchanges and international cooperation in China's paper industry, actively undertaking international cooperation and aid projects, and cultivating a number of senior engineering and technical talents for domestic and foreign entities. In 2012, CNPPRI moved into the Chaoyang Park of Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in Wangjing, Chaoyang District, Beijing, comprehensively upgrading its research facilities and establishing a world-class R&D platform.
