中国医学科学院医学生物学研究所坐落于我国历史文化名城、中国*面向东盟的大都市、被誉为"春城"的昆明。研究所成立于1958年，是我国从事人类重大传染病疫苗研究开发的主要机构之一，具有以传染病疫苗为主的基础及应用研究、产业化、及研究生教育为一体的产学研集成体系。是北京协和医学院（清华大学医学部）的硕士和博士学位授予点，现有硕士、博士研究生导师40余人，常年在所研究生120人。

有病毒性传染病生物制品国家地方联合工程研究中心、*生物安全灵长类动物实验中心和脑科学院士工作站等多个研究和转化平台。国家"十二五"期间获得两项"全球*"科技创新成果：自主研发的全球*Sabin株脊髓灰质炎灭活疫苗（Vero细胞）和肠道病毒71型灭活疫苗（人二倍体细胞）均已顺利完成研发工作并实现产业化。
