China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group (CISRI) is a central enterprise directly managed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). In December 2006, with the consent of the State Council and approval from SASAC, the former Central Iron & Steel Research Institute (founded in 1952) was renamed China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group, and the Automation Research and Design Institute of Metallurgical Industry (founded in 1973) was merged into the Group. CISRI is the largest comprehensive research, development, and high-tech industrialization institution in China's metallurgical industry. In May 2009, with approval from SASAC, it was restructured into a wholly state-owned company with a board of directors established. CISRI is one of the first batch of 103 innovation-oriented pilot enterprises in China and one of the first 100 innovative enterprises in Zhongguancun Science Park. It serves as a national base for R&D of new metal materials, an innovation hub for major key and common technologies in the metallurgical industry, and an authoritative institution for national metallurgical analysis and testing technology. Throughout its long-term development, it has undertaken numerous major national projects and research topics under the 863 Program, 973 Program, National Natural Science Foundation, and others, demonstrating outstanding R&D capabilities and making significant contributions in fields such as marine, terrestrial, aviation, aerospace, nuclear technology, and major sectors of the national economy, achieving accomplishments worthy of the times. Looking ahead, as a public-welfare technology-oriented central enterprise, CISRI will be guided by the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, implement the innovation-driven development strategy, comprehensively deepen reforms, accelerate transformation and upgrading, and take more solid steps at a new starting point, striving to become a world-class high-tech materials and technological innovation enterprise group at an early date, joining hands with all sectors to move towards a bright future!
