NCS Testing Technology Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as NCS, stock code: 300797) is a holding subsidiary of China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group (CISRI), a central enterprise directly under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and is one of the four core business segments of China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group.

NCS is the cradle of China's metallurgical analysis and testing technology, with its predecessor dating back to the Iron and Steel Industry Testing Institute of the Ministry of Heavy Industry in 1952. Over more than 70 years of dedicated efforts, the company has established a comprehensive quality assurance system covering material testing and evaluation, instrumentation, reference materials, metrological calibration, proficiency testing, and corrosion protection.

As an authoritative institution in the field of metal material testing in China, the company owns four national-level centers, including the National Center for Iron and Steel Material Testing and the National Center for Quality Inspection and Testing of Steel Products, as well as six national-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, such as the Industrial (Special Steel) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation Laboratory and the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Metal New Material Testing and Characterization Equipment.

The company serves as the secretariat and chairman unit for multiple authoritative organizations both domestically and internationally, including the Secretariat of the International Committee for Iron and Steel Industry Analysis (ICASI), the Office of the Joint Conference of Directors of National Testing Centers, the Secretariat of the Proficiency Testing Committee of the CNAS Laboratory Specialized Committee, the Secretariat of the Zhongguancun Material Testing Technology Alliance (CSTM), and the leader unit of the Raw Materials Industry Standards Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Manufacturing Pilot Standardization Technical Committee. It also holds important positions in various societies and associations such as the Chinese Society for Metals and the China Association for Instrumental Analysis, enjoying broad brand credibility.

With profound technical expertise and a well-structured talent pipeline, the company has nurtured three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and one "Iron Man of Science and Technology". Currently, it has 9 experts receiving special government allowances from the State Council, 52 professor-level senior engineers, and a post-doctoral research workstation. As of the end of 2025, the company has won over 220 honors including the National Technological Invention Award and the National Science and Technology Progress Award; formulated and revised over 400 standards, including 21 international standards and 242 national standards; and accumulated over 330 authorized patents, including 188 invention patents (including 26 international patents).

Relying on its strong R&D capabilities, the company undertakes numerous national major engineering projects and high-end equipment testing, evaluation, and instrument development tasks, achieving breakthroughs in multiple key technologies: the world's first fully automatic in-situ analyzer for oversized metal components has promoted the autonomous installation of domestic high-speed railway wheels and axles; the high-speed fully automatic analysis system for rare earth metals has been selected as an excellent case of "Metrology Promoting the Development of New Quality Productive Forces" by the State Administration for Market Regulation; the digital and intelligent cathodic protection technology for marine engineering equipment has won the "Hou Baorong Engineering Innovation Award" of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection.
