Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute" or "Changsha Mining and Metallurgy Institute") is located in the core area of Yuelu Mountain National University Science and Technology City. Founded in 1955, it was successively affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, and the State Bureau of Metallurgical Industry. In 1999, it was restructured into a large science and technology enterprise directly under the central government. In 2003, it was placed under the direct management of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. In October 2009, it became a key science and technology platform enterprise of China Minmetals Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "China Minmetals"). The Institute is committed to becoming a world-class innovative science and technology enterprise. Its business covers new energy material technology and industrial incubation, metallurgical and mining technology and key equipment (both onshore and deep-sea), as well as import and export trade, science and technology industrial park construction and operation services closely related to its main business. Since its establishment, the Institute has undertaken a large number of horizontal and vertical science and technology programs and industrial cultivation projects, and has achieved a series of major accomplishments. It has obtained 1,204 scientific and technological achievements, including the National Top Ten Scientific and Technological Achievements Award, the National Science and Technology Progress Special Award, First Prize, and Second Prize, as well as the Metallurgical Science and Technology Progress Special Award (including 533 national and provincial/ministerial awards), and has been granted more than 200 patents, making outstanding contributions to promoting industry scientific and technological progress and economic and social development. The Institute has excellent scientific research conditions and strong scientific research strength. It has 15 national and provincial/ministerial innovation platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Deep Sea Mineral Resources Development and Utilization Technology, the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Metal Mineral Resources, and the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Efficient Clean Processing and Comprehensive Utilization of Iron and Manganese Mineral Resources. It is one of the member units of the Central Enterprise Electric Vehicle Industry Alliance, and a entrepreneurship and innovation base for small, medium and micro enterprises in Hunan Province and a demonstration base for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. In April 2018, China Minmetals signed the "Cooperation Framework Agreement on China Minmetals New Energy Materials Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Demonstration Base" with the Changsha Municipal Government, with the Institute as the supporting unit, to jointly build the "China Minmetals New Energy Materials Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Demonstration Base" with the Changsha Municipal Government. The Institute focuses on developing new energy materials and devices, key equipment research and development and manufacturing, and resource recycling business, and is building an open and shared mass entrepreneurship and innovation platform in the field of new energy materials that integrates the "innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain, policy chain and service chain". Since 2019, the Institute's mass entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration base has been gradually implemented; in August of the same year, the Institute led the establishment of Hunan Minmetals Gaochuang Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd. to boost the innovative development of the new energy materials industry. The Institute has excellent talent quality and a reasonable professional structure. It has 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 foreign academician, 109 experts enjoying special government allowances, 6 doctoral supervisors, and 46 master's supervisors.
