Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Machinery Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "RIAMB") was founded in 1954. It was originally a comprehensive scientific research institution directly under the Ministry of Machinery Industry. In 1999, it was transformed into a large-scale science and technology enterprise directly under the central government, and now it is affiliated with China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd., which is supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). The headquarters and R&D base of RIAMB are located in Beijing, covering an area of 120,000 square meters, and the production base is in Changzhou, covering an area of 60,000 square meters. Currently, it employs more than 1,300 staff, including over 900 engineering and technical personnel. It has nine R&D divisions, four holding companies, and innovative institutions such as the National Engineering Research Center for Manufacturing Automation, the Intelligent System Integration Application Experience and Verification Center, and the Industrial (Hydraulic Components) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation Laboratory; it hosts national industry organizations such as the National Industrial Automation Systems and Integration Standardization Technical Committee, the National Hydraulic and Pneumatic Standardization Technical Committee, and the National Robot Standardization Technical Committee; it is an approved master's degree conferring institution for two majors, "Control Theory and Control Engineering" and "Computer Application Technology," having cultivated nearly 300 master's degree students; and it publishes two Chinese core journals, "Manufacturing Automation" and "Hydraulics & Pneumatics." Since its establishment, RIAMB has undertaken multiple national key projects, formulated over 300 national standards, achieved more than 600 scientific research results, and made outstanding contributions to national major projects and technological advancements of enterprises. It successfully developed China's first hydraulic servo spraying robot, the first automated three-dimensional warehouse, the first high-energy electron linear accelerator, the first MRPII software with independent intellectual property rights, and the first MIC series programmable logic controllers, among other high-tech products. It undertook the ground simulation vibration test project for China's first man-made earth satellite, took on the high-profile Three Gorges Project and the Yellow River Diversion Project, constructed the intelligent power distribution system project for Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport, developed the RS10 information software project with independent intellectual property rights, researched and developed the internationally advanced flexible automation assembly line for automobile engines, and completed hundreds of major projects including the largest logistics production line project in the fiberglass industry, playing an important role in the development of automation technology for China's equipment manufacturing industry.
