Introduction to State Nuclear Electric Power Planning Design & Research Institute
State Nuclear Electric Power Planning Design & Research Institute (abbreviated as "SNPDRI") is a directly affiliated second-level unit established by the National Nuclear Power Technology Company in Beijing. As an important component of the National Nuclear Power Technology Company, it undertakes the design of the conventional island, BOP, and transmission projects for the world's first batch of AP1000 nuclear power plants, and the conventional island and BOP design for China's first high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power plant demonstration project. It is also the first in China to conduct research and consulting services on nuclear seawater desalination projects.
SNPDRI adheres to the working approach of "strengthening nuclear power to be refined, power grids to be specialized, and thermal power to be top-tier," insists on "promoting nuclear power through electricity, and promoting electricity through nuclear power," and takes "highlighting nuclear power, ultra-high voltage, technological R&D innovation and result transformation, while maintaining sustained growth in new-concept high-parameter large-capacity thermal power performance" as its main business development line. Through continuous innovation and efforts, it has developed into a first-class electric power planning, design, and research institute with core competitiveness and independent intellectual property rights in nuclear power plants, ultra-high voltage power grids, and new-concept conventional power stations.
Since its establishment, SNPDRI has received 303 scientific and technological achievements with awards at various levels for outstanding engineering survey and design and scientific and technological progress. Among them, 176 awards are at the provincial/ministerial level or above; 4 gold awards, 10 silver awards, and 5 bronze awards for survey and design; 3 awards for national excellent engineering consulting achievements; 5 national scientific and technological progress awards. In the national top 100 survey and design enterprises, it has ranked first in the electric power design industry for 8 consecutive years. In 2009, SNPDRI obtained the highest national design qualification - "Comprehensive Class A Qualification for Engineering Design," and has become a first-class electric power design, consulting, and engineering construction service provider in China.
