西安电子科技大学芜湖研究院成立于2017年，是芜湖市政府和西安电子科技大学联合共建的集微电子产业人才培养、科学研究和产业孵化为一体的公共服务研发平台。平台的建设有助于推动我国实现第三代半导体、汽车电子和机器人及智能制造领域芯片国产化，加速承接长三角地区电子信息类产业转移，提升芜湖市微电子领域高等教育水平和研发能力，同时也有利于西电以产业应用为导向的人才培养和学科建设质量提升。中国科学院院士郝跃担任研究院首席科学家。
现拥有院士工作站、安徽省新型研发机构、芜湖市宽禁带半导体工程技术研究中心等省市级研发机构。建有超宽禁带半导体实验室、车载电子系统电磁兼容实验室、芯片可靠性评估实验室以及ARM系统级芯片联合创新实验室，拥有先进的微电子（汽车电子）领域科研设备总值超过2亿元，已逐步对外提供技术与检测服务。
