China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd., with the English name China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Corporation (abbreviated as CPPE), formerly the Pipeline Survey and Design Institute of the Ministry of Petroleum, is headquartered in Langfang City, Hebei Province. It was born in 1970 with the construction of China's first long-distance pipeline, the "Dongbasan" Pipeline Project (Daqing-Tieling Crude Oil Pipeline). In 1973, the Dongbasan Pipeline Design Institute was established. After more than 40 years of development and growth, it has become a large multinational engineering survey, consultation, and design enterprise with core businesses including consulting, survey, design, storage and transportation technology research, project management, and supervision in fields such as long-distance pipeline engineering, oil and gas field surface engineering, large oil (gas) storage engineering, onshore terminal engineering for beach and shallow sea oil and gas development, public works, and municipal engineering. It holds the national comprehensive Class A qualification for engineering design and survey. As a national industry directive design enterprise, it has always provided the most advanced technical support for pipeline survey and design in China, participated in the construction of all four national energy channels, and undertaken more than 80% of the survey and design tasks for domestic long-distance pipelines. It has five domestic branches in Northeast China, Shanghai, Zhuhai, Xinjiang, and Xi'an, a design and consultation center in Chengdu, a branch in Abu Dhabi, and a Southeast Asia design and consultation center in Thailand. It possesses multiple qualifications including comprehensive Class A for engineering survey, comprehensive Class A for engineering design, Class A for engineering consultation, Class A for engineering cost, Class A for engineering surveying and mapping, Class C for geological hazard exploration, and Class B for geological hazard design. Its business covers planning, survey and measurement, surveying and mapping, design, consultation, project management, and cost consultation for various engineering projects. It has passed the QHSE system certification and obtained the "AAA" grade in the graded quality management system certification for the engineering survey and design industry. It has one national survey master and two national design masters. From 2011 to 2018, it led or participated in compiling 116 national, industry, and group company standards, undertook the compilation of the "three modernization" documents for oil and gas storage and transportation engineering of CNPC, and has won 369 awards at or above the bureau level for science and technology and excellent survey and design, including 191 at or above the provincial and ministerial level. It holds 110 patents, 46 proprietary technologies, and 30 computer software copyrights. CPPE has been ranked among the top 60 Chinese engineering design enterprises for 12 consecutive years, among the top 100 national survey and design enterprises for 17 consecutive years, among the top 100 national engineering project management enterprises for 7 consecutive years, among the top 200 international consultants (US ENR) for 13 consecutive years, among the top 225 international engineering contractors (US ENR) for 12 times, and 19 projects have been listed as new records of Chinese enterprises. In 2013, CPPE's comprehensive Class A qualification for engineering design successfully passed the review and public announcement by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development experts, and it was awarded the "2013 National Top Ten Comprehensive Strength in Engineering Survey" and "2013 National Top Ten Comprehensive Strength in Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering Design" jointly selected by the China Infrastructure Construction Association and the China Building Enterprise Federation.
