Bashu Primary School was founded in 1933, with Wang Zanxu, former Chairman of Sichuan Province of the Kuomintang, as Chairman of the Board, and Zhou Xucheng, an educator from Jiangsu, as Principal. In 1936, photos of Bashu students' life and their academic achievements were sent to London, England on behalf of China to participate in the International Education Exposition, where they received high praise. Ye Shengtao, a famous educator and writer, once served as a Chinese language teacher at the school and wrote the lyrics for the school song. Comrade Zhou Enlai, the great proletarian revolutionary, once delivered his famous speech 'Unite the Whole Nation to Win the War of Resistance' to people from all walks of life on the school playground. In 1950, according to Comrade Deng Xiaoping's instruction to 'only allow it to be run well,' the school was taken over by the Southwest Military and Political Committee and became a school for the children of cadres of the Southwest Bureau. In 1978, Bashu Primary School became one of the first batch of key primary schools in Sichuan Province. After Chongqing became a municipality directly under the Central Government, Bashu Primary School became a designated contact school for basic education of the Ministry of Education and one of the first batch of demonstration primary schools in Chongqing. Chongqing Yubei District Qicheng Bashu Primary School is a full-time private school jointly established by Qicheng Langbo Education and Chongqing Bashu Primary School. It is an alliance school of the Bashu Primary School Education Group, referred to as 'Qicheng Bashu.'
