Volkswagen Anhui

Volkswagen (Anhui) Co., Ltd. (formerly JAC Volkswagen Co., Ltd.) was established in 2020, jointly established by Volkswagen Group and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Co., Ltd. It is the first joint venture of Volkswagen Group in China focusing on new energy vehicles.

Volkswagen Anhui has fully built a smart manufacturing base equipped with first-class equipment and infrastructure. Construction of the new plant started in July 2021 and was completed in just 18 months. The plant builds pure electric vehicles based on the Group's MEB modular electric drive platform, with the first model going into production at the end of 2023. The plant covers a total area of approximately 510,000 square meters, using leading technology and first-class equipment to ensure delivery of products with excellent quality and advanced technology to customers. The body shop, covering approximately 140,000 square meters, is equipped with about 1,200 robots, making it the most automated shop in Volkswagen's plants in China. It is also the first shop in the Group to apply "100% In-line measurement 2025" technology, ensuring excellent product quality.

At the start of production, the Volkswagen Anhui MEB plant uses green energy and reduces overall carbon emissions through a series of energy-saving measures. Volkswagen Anhui is committed to achieving "net-zero emissions" in production from the first car produced. In addition, wastewater discharged from the paint shop meets the phosphorus-free standard, minimizing the impact on the environment. At the same time, Volkswagen Anhui is also working with partners to advance the smart logistics project, jointly exploring future mobility solutions and supporting the construction of Hefei's "dual-intelligent city" (smart vehicle infrastructure and smart vehicle-cloud integration). The project started joint commissioning in February 2023, and a fleet of three electric connected trucks is expected to travel more than 135,780 kilometers per year, reducing approximately 84 tons of carbon emissions.

Volkswagen Anhui has also made outstanding progress in supply chain development. Over the past three years, approximately 320 suppliers in the production materials sector and 1,000 general procurement suppliers have been in place. To date, 48 suppliers have followed Volkswagen Anhui to settle in Hefei and surrounding areas, establishing a fully collaborative industrial ecosystem. In addition, two supplier parks have been built adjacent to the Volkswagen Anhui smart manufacturing base, with a total area of 850,000 square meters. Eighteen key partners have already moved in.

Volkswagen Anhui consolidates multiple departments such as planning, quality assurance, simultaneous engineering, full-function production and testing in one park, fully realizing the integration of the industrial value chain. This will help the Group strengthen its local smart manufacturing capabilities, improve production efficiency, and rapidly expand and optimize the new energy product matrix to meet the customer needs of the world's largest new energy vehicle market.

Currently, Volkswagen Anhui is actively expanding its local talent pool, with a total workforce of over 2,100 employees. Relying on Volkswagen Group's global professional technical system, local talents will have the opportunity to receive training at the German headquarters and its research and development centers. Meanwhile, R&D experts from Germany will also provide professional training to employees in Hefei.

In the future, Volkswagen Anhui will fully leverage the Group's synergies in global electric mobility, working hand in hand with all partners to deepen the Group's "In China, for China" strategy, accelerate local innovation, and promote the Group's electrification and digital transformation.
