The Comprehensive Technology and Economy Research Institute of Machinery Industry Instrumentation (abbreviated as "Yizongsuo") was established in 1980 and is a public institution administered by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It engages in research on basic commonalities and frontier technologies in the fields of sensors and intelligent instrumentation, measurement control and automation; provides support for the government in formulating industrial policies, compiling plans, and implementing industry management; and provides public welfare services to society such as standardization, inspection and testing, evaluation and assessment, information consulting, and technology promotion. Yizongsuo has established the Measurement Control Equipment and Network Quality Testing Center, the Safety Center Inspection Body, the Key Laboratory of Functional Safety of Control Networks and Systems, the Engineering Center for Functional Safety of Measurement and Control Equipment and Systems, and the National Public Service Demonstration Platform for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. It is the secretariat unit of standardization organizations such as the National Technical Committee 124 on Industrial Process Measurement, Control and Automation of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC124), the Integrated Standardization Working Group for Intelligent Manufacturing of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Sino-German Working Group on Intelligent Manufacturing Standards. At present, it undertakes a number of national and provincial/ministerial scientific research projects in fields such as advanced manufacturing and automation, intelligent manufacturing, scientific instruments, sensors and the Internet of Things, and cultural science and technology innovation engineering, provides services to enterprises such as PetroChina, Sinopec, CRRC, and Guodian, and publishes journals such as "China Instrumentation" and "Instrumentation Standardization and Metrology".
