Beijing E-Town Smart City Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the "Smart Institute") was established on July 12, 2019, with a registered capital of 350 million yuan. Located in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (hereinafter referred to as the "Development Area"), it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing E-Town Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., a first-level state-owned enterprise under the Beijing municipal government, specializing in the construction and operation of smart cities. As the main platform for the construction of Smart E-Town, the Smart Institute, leveraging the "Smart City Industrial Innovation Federation" as a bond, engages in technical cooperation with leading enterprises in areas such as top-level design of smart cities, construction of a unified digital cloud base, independent and controllable technologies in the industrial and information technology sector, and the construction of a comprehensive urban operation platform covering the "six networks and one system." With smart city scenario applications at its core, it promotes the deep integration of institutional reform, business process reengineering, and informatization in the Development Area, striving to build a full-chain development model from planning and design to construction and operation, creating the "E-Town Model" for smart cities.
The Smart Institute actively promotes the construction of new infrastructure, driving the application and implementation of government cloud, enterprise cloud, 5G technology, smart streetlights, IoT sensing platforms, and industrial internet in the Development Area. It conducts multi-level and wide-ranging cooperation with leading enterprises in vehicle-road coordination, autonomous driving, and the Internet of Vehicles, aiming to build an internationally first-class high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone. It has planned and released ten joint innovation scenario laboratories for smart cities, jointly researched new infrastructure topics in the 5G era with the National Information Center and relevant units, and cooperates closely with universities, research institutes, and leading industry enterprises along the development path of "laboratory - pilot zone - demonstration zone," promoting the transformation and implementation of scientific and technological achievements, providing intellectual support for the technological innovation and development of the Development Area.
