Shanghai International Studies University Xianda College of Economics and Humanities

Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) Xianda College of Economics and Humanities was established in April 2004 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China. It is a non-profit full-time undergraduate independent college. The college is located in the Chongming and Hongkou districts. The Hongkou campus is situated in the northeastern part of the urban area, adjacent to Shanghai International Studies University; the Chongming campus is located in Chenjia Town, which is a leading demonstration area for ecological island construction. The beautiful architecture in neoclassical and Tuscan styles complements the unique ecological environment.

The college relies on the strong faculty and advantages in foreign language teaching and research of Shanghai International Studies University, building a discipline system with foreign language and literature, economics and management as advantageous disciplines, art design as a characteristic discipline, and coordinated development of law, education and other disciplines. It currently has six major discipline categories and 26 undergraduate programs. At present, the number of full-time undergraduate students exceeds 10,000.

The college adheres to student-centered development, promotes the school motto of "Virtuous and Capable," firmly advances the reform of the "Foreign Language +" and "Digital +" compound and application-oriented talent cultivation model, actively makes breakthroughs in key areas such as foreign language specialty programs, foreign language plus business, international trade plus big data, and art plus technology. It has built five major discipline groups with certain regional influence and playing an important role in serving Shanghai's strategic needs: language and literature, teacher education, economics and management business, big data and digital cultural tourism, and digital communication and design. It highlights internationalized, compound, and application-oriented talent cultivation characteristics combined with digitalization, based in Chongming, facing Shanghai, and serving the social and economic development of the Yangtze River Delta.
