Founded in 2004, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China is a Sino-foreign cooperative university approved by the Ministry of Education of China, jointly established by the University of Nottingham (UK) and Zhejiang Wanli University. It is the first Sino-foreign cooperative university in China to introduce world-class university teaching resources, with independent legal person status and independent campus. According to authoritative rankings released by Times Higher Education and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Nottingham ranks among the world's top 100 universities.
