Company Profile: Beijing Survey and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as BKS), established in 1955, is a high-tech enterprise formed in October 2007 through the full corporatization of all engineering survey, design, consulting, R&D businesses and professional technical personnel from the former Beijing Survey and Design Research Institute. It holds a comprehensive Class A qualification in engineering survey, Class A in surveying and mapping, Class A in engineering consulting, Class A in geological hazard risk assessment, Class A in geological hazard control engineering survey/design/construction, Grade I in foundation engineering professional contracting, as well as qualifications in architectural design, municipal design, environmental special design, electromechanical installation construction, and seismic safety evaluation of engineering construction sites. In 2017, it was listed as a pilot unit for "whole-process engineering consulting services" by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. BKS is committed to providing a wide range of professional technical services in survey, consulting, design, construction, and surveying and mapping for customers and society, including engineering geological survey, hydrogeological survey, geotechnical engineering survey, geothermal energy survey, contaminated site survey, rock/soil/groundwater and building material testing, engineering consulting, engineering design, geotechnical engineering design and construction, mine geological environment protection and restoration, geological hazard prevention and control engineering, surveying and mapping geographic information, engineering geophysical survey, geotechnical engineering testing, safety risk monitoring and analysis and evaluation, earthquake engineering, environmental engineering, and clean energy engineering. It is a backbone enterprise integrating professional technical services and R&D. BKS currently has more than 800 employees. Since its establishment, it has produced 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 5 national engineering survey and design masters, 5 experts enjoying special government allowances of the State Council, 5 outstanding contributors in Beijing, and 1 expert among the "Hundred Talents" for Science and Technology Beijing; it has more than 20 professor-level senior engineers, more than 100 senior engineers, and more than 180 registered professional engineers of various types. BKS has excellently completed a series of major national engineering construction tasks and has won more than 400 awards including national and provincial/ministerial science and technology progress awards, national excellent engineering survey and design awards, and provincial/ministerial excellent engineering survey and design awards. It has received high praise from domestic and foreign peers in R&D innovation, technical quality, and professional services, and has been honored with titles such as National Advanced Unit for Creating Civilized Industry, National Advanced Unit for Spiritual Civilization Construction, Capital Civilized Unit Model, and National Civilized Unit. In 2012, it was recognized as a "Beijing Science and Technology Research and Development Institution"; in 2013, it was recognized as the "Beijing Environmental Geotechnical Engineering Technology Research Center"; in 2015, it was recognized as the "Beijing Road and Municipal Pipeline Underground Disease Engineering Technology Research Center". Over the past sixty years, BKS has continuously provided professional technical support and services in fields such as urban and rural planning, engineering construction, urban operation, disaster reduction and prevention, and low-carbon environmental protection.
