Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (abbreviated as "SIAT University") is an independent full-time higher education institution established through cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, relying on the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It aims to build itself into a * and "small but excellent" research-oriented university. SIAT University will develop four major distinctive features: integration of science and education, integration of industry and education, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation and internationalized education, and institutional and mechanism innovation.
In terms of integration of science and education, it adheres to fostering virtue through education, takes talent cultivation as the fundamental task, insists on student growth as the center, follows the laws of education and talent growth, innovates education and teaching methods, explores models for cultivating top-notch innovative talents, and establishes a "three-in-one" talent cultivation system integrating schools, residential colleges, and research institutes. In terms of integration of industry and education, SIAT University will continue the scientific and technological innovation development path of SIAT, strengthen the construction of the Maker College, advocate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, provide a high-quality entrepreneurial atmosphere, and cultivate students' entrepreneurial genes and abilities. In terms of internationalization, the university will introduce high-level, internationalized faculty from home and abroad to enhance the level of internationalized teaching. English will be included as a working language, professional courses are planned to be taught entirely in English, and it is planned that one-third to one-quarter of professors will be foreign nationals, and one-third to one-quarter of students will be international students. In terms of institutional and mechanism innovation, SIAT University will actively introduce social capital to participate in running the school, and under the premise of adhering to Party leadership, plans to implement a corporate governance structure with a board of directors at its core.
SIAT University aims to cultivate for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the world future scientists dedicated to scientific research who are * at the academic frontiers of scientific research, future entrepreneurs dedicated to innovation and entrepreneurship who are creators and * of future industries, and future technology elites in high-tech industries who are technical backbones and * of future high-tech industries.
