With the care and support of all sectors of society, the company, building on the solid foundation of the Russian school, has continuously absorbed the strengths of different schools and styles. In addition to introducing and staging a large number of world classic masterpieces such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle, Carmen, Onegin, The Firebird, The Little Mermaid, La Bayadère, Cinderella, and Jewels, it has created a large number of outstanding works with distinctive national characteristics, such as The Red Detachment of Women, Blessing, The Yellow River, Raise the Red Lantern, The Peony Pavilion, Chinese New Year, The Crane's Soul, Dunhuang, and The Nine-Colored Deer, successfully exploring a path of development and creation for Chinese ballet art that perfectly integrates the classical and the modern, the national and the global.
Over the past 60-plus years, the company has also achieved remarkable results in talent development, repertoire accumulation, and ballet popularization education, with many artists in ballet, music, stage design, and other fields appearing on the podiums of various international professional competitions and among the ranks of world stars. It has more than 200 repertoire pieces in its Chinese and foreign repertoire, some of which have been listed as Chinese artistic classics and international cultural brands.
As a renowned company with extensive international influence, the National Ballet of China plays an important role as an envoy of cultural exchange with foreign countries and a window showcasing Chinese humanistic sentiment, while also actively working to present higher-level performances domestically and to better popularize art through "entering campuses," "entering communities," and "entering the lives of children and youth." With high spirits, the company upholds the spirit of "unity, pragmatism, self-reliance, and striving" and, in pursuit of its century-old dream, continues to stride forward along the path of the dedicated contributions of its predecessors.
